What is Media Literacy and why is it important for FCMs

Media literacy is a way to study and evaluate, creating a message in a wide variety of media modes, genres or forms. It is a way to help people analyze a message to detect propaganda, censorship, and bias in news, story and public affairs.
Media literacy is important to FCM students so that we can promote, produce ideas for the public. This is so that we know how and what the viewers want. If we don't study or take note on what is media literacy, we will be creating things that will amuse ourselves; we will be selling our ideas to ourselves. As an example, designers analyze what attracts the public/buyers eyes and desire. People nowadays want items that are up to the trend, curvy and light in weight, also something that is clear-view/transparent to give that spacey look. And from this, is up to the designers to take these desires into designing an item.

Media stereotype

From the article the writer explains that Media stereotypes are usually done to goof off with other people’s religious, country or community. They use what symbolizes a community and use it to make fun of them, examples are like if an Arabian, the character will have a beard and if they were Jews they would have a funny accent. It is shown off mostly where we least expect. From movies, most viewers will notice the aspect of racism if it was presented and this is because most movies are for teenagers or adults. But if racism was shown in cartoons people will not have notice much. This is because the viewers are mostly children where they don't know or understand racism much. Other than that stereotype that’s shown in cartoons isn’t much noticeable or it may be because it’s in a form of cartoon and people tend to not take this issue seriously. This is maybe why they put in a form of cartoon, so that they (the producer) can make fun of others while people not realizing it. But it may be also to put young children in mind what are other people like. With this they can influence the children easier to hate those people or like them. The cartoons that was mention in the article is most of all stereotype media that I've seen only I didn't realize this at ALL until I read the article. There were some, not many movie (maybe I didn't realize) I've seen that were stereotype. But the one cartoon that are for adults that is guarantee as a stereotype media is Simpson.

Introduction to Mass Communication: Media Literacy and Culture

Well trusting on the web put a bit more of the unbelievable side, as newspaper is hard to believe nowadays, I would have to say no, not to believe. If we were to take true information is by going to whom or wherever we want to investigate, even so we will most probably get 50% or less information that is true. Because the web is to me considered less believable is that because anyone can edit it. A way to solve this problem is by taking a bit of info from this site and compare it with other websites to see whether the information matches or not. Websites like 'Wikipedia' is one of the least trusting sites because anyone can edit it, but because the editor USUALLY leaves their source of information and that it is controlled by a group of people who would stop from false information, it is a bit trusting. Though we trust them 100 or even 50% that the information written down is true, at least we get some information on what are we're studying on and besides, we check if that info is true or not by asking others or do research on books officially for that certain someone or something that we're studying on. I know one thing, nowadays it's hard to know the truth even in local newspaper, the only way is by comparison with multiple sources, and the truth will bound to show up.

how social media effect our life

There are sooo many ways media effects our lives. It is media that evolve to humans like today. It started of with news from newspaper, news from spreading wide without others having to travel much to get a bit of info. Even from this it has changed the human life by us not to travel around much and made us a bit lazy. Futhermore it made us took the easy way by letting us believe what they record is true. But on the bright side, it made those hard to go around anywhere easier by bringing them useful information. Today, newspaper are least effective due to today's technology such as television radios and the top contributer, the internet. With these device media can affect us more by bringing visual and sound content. For example when we watch news on television it is more believing than reading in newspaper as in television they provide us images as well to prove their statement.

personal reflection on media culture

Media culture is to me, a bit interesting (though not all), but most of it is
The interesting part is when I realised that most of what was taught has happened in real life. Plus, we were to know more about the tricks and turns in a psycology matter with other people. Also through learning this subject I now see the effect of ones' doing by using mostly their mind and not much on will.
